Cervical Spine Injury: A Closed Claims Analysis
Understanding Risks and Adverse Events
Study Highlights Potential for Injury during Surgeries
A recently conducted closed claims analysis of cervical spine injuries has shed light on the potential risks associated with certain types of surgical procedures. The study, which analyzed 37 adverse events related to cervical spine surgery, found that a significant number—24 out of 37—occurred during surgeries involving the fusion of the cervical spine. This finding underscores the importance of understanding the potential complications that can arise during these procedures and taking appropriate precautions to mitigate risks.
