Oklahoma Wildfires: Red Flag Warnings Issued

Dry and Windy Conditions Fueling Fire Danger

Interactive Map Tracks Wildfire Activity

As Oklahoma's fire season intensifies, red flag warnings have been issued across the state due to the high risk of wildfires. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Norman warns of dry, windy, and warm conditions this weekend, creating a dangerous environment for fire spread.

An interactive real-time wildfire map, hosted by Fire Weather, allows residents to track current wildfires and wildfire perimeters in Oklahoma. Updated hourly, the map provides the latest information on active fires and fire behavior. Citizens are urged to monitor the map and heed the guidance of fire officials.

According to NWS Norman, a red flag warning is issued when weather conditions are favorable for the rapid spread of wildfires. These conditions include sustained winds of 25 mph or higher, relative humidity below 25%, and dry vegetation.

Residents are advised to take precautions to prevent wildfires, such as avoiding open burning and using grills responsibly. They should also be prepared to evacuate if necessary and follow instructions from local authorities.
